Vegetable Tanned Leather Clutch - Dancing Wings
These precious accessories showcase one of the most iconic and important patterns in the Mayan textile culture: the stream of arrows.
It was chosen by the weavers of ancient Mayan communities to immortalise and honor the powerful yet gracious wingbeats of hawks, eagles and owls.
These were the great teachers of hunters, who trained hard to achieve the same physical prowess.
Not by chance, they were also skilled dancers who could perform incredible stunts during community celebrations to win the love of their people... and deities.
Our weavers carry on this tradition by presenting these unique crafts, made with upcycled parts of Guatemalan huipiles.
The beauty of patterns and colors is equalled only by the refined leather that enriches each one of these clutches. Traditional vegetable tanning makes it more robust and 100% biodegradable, while gifting the hides a unique aroma and deep earthy tones.
Check them out: their strong personality will catch your eyes... and heart!
