East Red Homewear
Specific colors used within Mayan weavings have their own significance. Red, black, white and yellow represent the four types of corn as well as the four different elements of the body (red for blood, black for eyes and hair, white for bones and yellow for muscles). These key colors also represent the four directions of the winds: red for east, black for west, white for north and yellow for south. The red tones can also symbolize blood or can be used to represent dawn, sunset or birth depending on the context they are used in.
