This intricate Huipil was handwoven in Quetzaltenango close to the sacred volcanic lake Chicabal. Maya ceremonies frequently take place along the shore of Chicabal, and flowers and candles can be seen floating along the lake's shore.

Annually, an important Maya ritual takes place at Chicabal, called 'La Perdida Por La Lluvia', where farmers and ceremonial leaders pray for rain.

The power and energy of Lake Chicabal is reflected in the vibrant, red and bedazzled collar of this Huipil. The Huipil also features a subtle geometric diamond pattern, in colors that are typical of Quetzaltenango.

Size: 67cm length x 59cm width, circumference of arm: 36 cm, circumference of neck: 63cm.
Care: Hand-wash in cold water, treat stains with mild detergent, lay flat to air dry.
