Our weaving school offers a rare opportunity to learn the ancient art of backstrap loom weaving from our experts.
You can choose what to make from a selection of options, ranging from a simple sample piece to a complex embroidered table runner. You can also choose the pattern and colors to be used in your design. When you finish, you get to take home whatever you make – a unique souvenir of your time in Guatemala.
Trama Textiles offers a homestay at the home of two of our most presitious weavers. Here, travelers can gain an insight into the daily lives of our weavers and their families in Guatemala. The homestays offer a unique chance to experience Maya culture and build lasting relationships with Guatemalan locals.
Working alongside the Trama weavers is a uniquely rewarding way to spend your time in Guatemala. We always have volunteering positions available at Trama, and welcome contact from prospective volunteers. There are no fees for volunteering and all positions are non-paid.
Thanks to the generous donations of Trama's supporters, Trama Textiles is able to make a difference in the lives of our weavers and their families.
All donations to Trama Textiles are now received through Almaya Fund, our ‘sister’ organization which focuses on providing access to healthcare and education services for the families of Trama Textiles members.
