Zig Zag Natural Dye Scarf Indigo Cafe
This naturally-dyed, lightweight, handwoven scarf is the perfect accessory to transition from spring to summer to fall. Handmade in Guatemala of a lightweight cotton blend, it can either be worn as a spring or summer scarf. This scarf has been made by women within the San Juan de la Laguna community. The natural dye comes from indigo for the blue and tobacco for the brown.
The zig-zag pattern comes from the dying technique of Jaspe. The weavers begin by tying and dying individual threads to create a particular pattern. The threads are then perfectly realigned on the loom before weaving can begin. During the weaving, the jaspe design appears.
Handwoven in the traditional art of backstrap loom-weaving, this took 20 hours to make.
