Cushion Cover Mustard/Rust Diamond/Volcanoes
Handmade in Guatemala with 100% Rio Blanco cotton, this cushion cover is perfect to dress up your sofa or bed. It features intricate and colorful traditional Mayan designs as well as an invisible zipper closure. This decorative throw pillow is hand-woven in the traditional art of backstrap loom weaving by indigenous women of the West Solola region in the Guatemalan highlands.
The central pattern represents the peaks of the Guatemalan volcanoes with plumes of smoke rising skyward. Bordering the volcanoes is a row of spring flowers and wreaths to respectfully mourn the dead. Finally, on the outer edges are curving lines representing the winding rivers of Guatemala – Quite the conversation starter!
Also the diamonds can represent the Guatemala History and reminds the people that it was a wealthy country before the arrival of the Spaniards since they took many precious stones such as diamonds, gold, silver and bronze among others, but at the same time it reminds that Guatemala continues to have many other riches as it's people and it's nature.
The diamond is one of the most important symbols, and can be found in most of Trama's products. It symbolises the arms of the weaver, with her body at the bottom, and her textiles at the top.
