Table Runners Mayan Design
These table runners will make a beautiful addition to your home decor. Each table runner is woven on the footloom by our Trama Textiles cooperative of Mayan weavers in the Guatemalan Highlands. Traditionally made, these table runners convey culture and quality and will make a fantastic centerpiece for your dining room table. Each is a unique piece, you cannot get the same one twice. Footloom weaving is a different weaving technique than backstrap loom weaving. It requires a different method including the feet in the weaving process. It is easier to make detailed patterns on the footloom.
This design comes from the Sacatepéquez region. The central pattern represents the peaks of the Guatemalan volcanoes with plumes of smoke rising skyward. Bordering the volcanoes is a row of spring flowers and wreaths to respectfully mourn the dead. Finally, on the outer edges are curving lines representing the winding rivers of Guatemala – Quite the conversation starter!
