Naturally Dyed Shopping Bag - Volcanic Jaspe
Our weavers' creative genius has done it again!
This time, their endless efforts, commitment and passion gave birth to a new collection of bags whose magic lies in the ancient Mayan tradition of Jaspe weaving: Jaspe, or Ikat, refers to a tie-dye process done to the threads prior to weaving them.
Why is this some kind of magic?
Because these fabrics hide their breath-taking and complex patterns within each thread of cotton. Only when the skilful hands of our craftswomen start weaving on their backstrap looms, secret geometric shapes, flowers and animals magically appear on the cloth.
But our young artists cast an additional spell on these silky bags. They spiced up the millennial Jaspe technique with modern styles and tastes, to conjure precious items that both preserve their Mayan cultural identity and trace a new path for it into the vibrant future of Guatemalan textiles.
Here, the collection showcases a fusion of Jaspe designs that come from the Sololá region, echoing the volcanic earth of the Guatemalan heartland. These intense colors, intricate patterns and comfy shapes will definitely energise your daily routines and outfits!
