Quetzaltenango is one of the most important and beautiful cities of Guatemala.
Its streets are filled with life, colors and history, revealing the fascinating and secular past of this gem set in an emerald green valley.

However, an inestimable piece of its story is hidden in its name: indeed, the Nahuatl name of the city, Quetzaltenango, means "the place of the Quetzal bird" for the surrounding spectacular nature is home to this majestic animal.
The iridescent and luminous plumage of the Quetzal has inspired myriads of legends and myths within the ancient Mayan and Aztec cultures. It was believed to be the god of the air, whose unique feathers were connected to the ones adorning the head of Quetzalcoatl, the powerful feathered serpent deity.

Our weavers' skilled hands created these precious crafts with the traditional huipil weaving technique to portray the resplendent beauty of the tiny god of the air, along with the polychrome tropical flora where it lives peacefully... and mysteriously.

Take a closer look at the refined embroideries of these unique accessories: you might glimpse the benevolent light spread by a pair of graceful wings!
