Are you passionate about ethical fashion, Indigenous rights, and making a real-world impact? At Trama Textiles, we offer internship opportunities in marketing, administration, international commerce, graphic design, and business development—all from our base in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

We are a women-led cooperative working with over 150 Maya women weavers from 17 communities in the Western Highlands. Using traditional backstrap loom techniques, our artisans create handmade, sustainable textiles such as huipiles, scarves, bags, jackets, and more. Trama stands for community empowerment, slow fashion, cultural preservation, and fair trade.

Internship Areas

We welcome interns in the following fields:

Marketing & Digital Content Creation
Help promote our unique handwoven products through social media, blogs, email campaigns, and storytelling.

Administration & Strategic Development
Support day-to-day operations, long-term planning, volunteer coordination, and database management.

Graphic Design & Branding
Create visuals and materials that reflect our values and support both online and print promotions.

E-Commerce & International Business
Help manage our Shopify store, coordinate shipments, explore B2B opportunities, and develop wholesale partnerships.

Fundraising & Grants
Assist in researching funding opportunities and developing donor communications.

You’ll gain experience in working with an international audience while strengthening a community-rooted cooperative.

Life in Quetzaltenango

Interning with us is more than work—it’s a cultural exchange. You’ll live in Xela (Quetzaltenango), learn Spanish, explore Guatemala’s rich history, and experience first-hand how traditional Maya textiles are made. Our affordable accommodation option is available at $160/month, offering interns a space to connect and practice Spanish while supporting a local family.
