Weaving Classes
At the Trama office in Xela, you have the unique opportunity to learn the ancient art of backstrap loom weaving from our expert women weavers.
During your time at Trama, you will learn
- how to prepare the warp
- set up the loom
- weave using the traditional backstrap loom.
You can choose what to make from a selection of options, including a simple sample piece, a scarf, or a complex embroidered table runner. You can also choose the pattern and colors you will use in your design, and when you finish, you get to take home a unique souvenir of your time in Guatemala.
Classes run from Monday to Friday, from 9 am - 6 pm.
You can start your classes on any day of the week, at any time of day, and choose how many hours per day you want to work on your piece.
Just drop by the Trama office and we’ll sign you up in person - or email us at coordinator@tramatextiles.org.
